Mission & History

Our Mission
We create spaces to empower plus-size individuals by providing access to healthcare, art programs and a supportive community.

Our Vision
We envision a future where plus-size bodies are respected and celebrated.

History
I Slay was founded in 2024 by two Latina, LGBTQIA+ sisters in Austin, Texas, united by a shared passion for creating safe, affirming spaces for plus-size people. As plus-size individuals themselves, they often experienced isolation, discrimination, and dismissal — from everyday experiences to healthcare settings. In response, they began exchanging clothes, resources, and referrals to inclusive medical professionals.

What started as a backyard clothing swap with 13 attendees in February 2024 quickly blossomed into a movement. Within the first year, I Slay formed a powerful partnership with OutWellness, an inclusive physical therapy and fitness space serving the queer and LGBTQ+ community, to host its monthly flagship plus-size clothing swaps. By the end of 2024, I Slay had welcomed over 400 community members and donated more than 10,000 items to 12 nonprofits across Central Texas.

As of 2025, Christabell Nunez, I Slay’s founder and President, continues to carry the mission forward with heart, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to building radically inclusive spaces for the plus-size community. I Slay remains rooted in community, care, and collective joy — and the work is just getting started.
